Together, we can protect our waterways and build a cleaner, healthier future.
WHAT WE ARE
roject Microplastics isn't another cleanup crew. Florida already has dozens of groups pulling plastic out of rivers, beaches, and storm drains — but almost none of that work talks to each other, and almost none of it turns into a bigger picture of what's actually happening statewide.
We're building that bigger picture. Project Microplastics is a statewide monitoring tool that tracks every piece of plastic collected — not just how much came out of the water, but where it came from, what kind it was, and how it fits the pattern happening everywhere else in the state.
That data becomes a map of real hotspots — not a guess about where plastic pollution is worst, but a picture built from what's actually being pulled out of the water, cleanup by cleanup, county by county.
Once you can see the whole map, you can see what's working: which interventions actually reduce plastic in a given place, which don't, and where the next cleanup should go instead of wherever it's always gone.
It tracks. It maps. It tells you what to do next.
