By using this site or submitting a find, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't submit or use the site.
You must be 18 years of age or older to submit a find — the submission form asks you to confirm this before you can submit. If you are under 18, please have a parent, guardian, or teacher who is 18 or older submit on your behalf.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Kids under 13 should always have a parent, guardian, or teacher submit for them as part of supervised programming, rather than entering personal information themselves.
By submitting, you confirm: you personally collected the plastic shown; the photo was taken by you, at the location and date provided; your submission is honest to the best of your knowledge; and you have the right to share the photo.
We may reject, edit for clarity, or remove any submission we can't verify or reasonably believe to be false.
When you submit a find, you grant [Project Microplastics / your org's legal name] permission to use, reproduce, display, and share your photo, description, category, and generalized location — on our site and social media, in research and educational materials, in hotspot maps, and to train or improve predictive/AI models related to our mission. This does not extend to your name, email, or exact coordinates, which stay private per our Privacy Policy.
Don't submit staged, false, or plagiarized content; content showing identifiable people without their consent; or anything unlawful or infringing.
Contact projectmicroplastics@gmail.com anytime to have your submission removed or your personal info deleted. We'll do our best to honor this promptly, though copies already used in published reports may not be retractable.
Submissions are community-reported and reviewed on a volunteer, best-effort basis. This isn't peer-reviewed scientific data and shouldn't be relied on for legal, regulatory, or safety decisions.
The site and its data are provided "as is," without warranties of accuracy or uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its data.
