Our team collects water samples, analyzes them for microplastics, and publishes findings as they become available. Reports are released periodically as data is verified.
Results available soonOur community science method follows a consistent protocol so results can be compared over time.
We use a manta trawl and plankton net to collect surface water samples at multiple sites along the St. Johns River.
Water is filtered through a fine mesh sieve to concentrate particles larger than 300 microns.
Trained volunteers sort suspected plastic particles by shape, color, and texture under a microscope.
Samples are cross-checked using hot-needle and density tests to confirm plastic identity.
We record particle counts, types, weather conditions, and GPS coordinates for each sample.
Findings are compiled into a public report with maps, trends, and recommendations.
Our first round of sampling is complete. We are finalizing analysis and will publish the full report here as soon as results are verified. Check back soon or follow us on social media for updates.
